Buttock implants used to be the most popular method to achieve buttock augmentation prior to the development of the Brazilian Butt Lift. Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Jejurikar still performs buttock augmentation with implants, but usually reserves this procedure for women lacking in adequate amounts of fat for Brazilian Butt Lift.
Buttock augmentation is performed with solid silicone implants that are distinct from breast implants. Because buttock implants are made with solid silicone, they cannot leak fluid into your body. Dallas women who have undergone augmentation with solid butt implants have firm, athletic feeling butts.
Dr. Jejurikar performs buttock augmentation with patient’s under general anesthesia (completely asleep). His preferred incisions for placing implants is along the upper, inner buttock crease. Buttock augmentation generally takes around 2 hours to perform and patient are asked to refrain from sitting on their buttocks for 3 weeks and to avoid exercise for 2 months. Drains are placed during surgery and usually remain in place for approximately 7 days.
Liposuction may be required in order to improve the overall shape, particularly if patients have excessive fat of the lower back, love handles or outer thighs.
